About the Book

In Too Many Voices, Linda Cline and Dr. Libby Tanner share with the reader a remarkable journey of more than seven years of difficult psychotherapy. In spite of multiple personalities and severe depression, Linda was able to work with Dr. Tanner to achieve full integration. Written from the distinct and very different voices of Linda’s personalities, the book illustrates the back and forth nature of therapy between client and therapist. Throughout the therapy, Linda kept an extensive notebook of writings, and illustrated with a variety of drawings both the ongoing process and the separate personalities she was experiencing. This book stands apart from others written by or about persons with multiple personalities because of the unique style in which it was written, its positive and inspirational outcome for the client, and the insight it gives into the psychotherapeutic dialogue. Too Many Voices is a book about survival and the recovery of self and will appeal to a wide audience. It reads like a riveting novel that the reader will not want to put down. Proof that love and understanding within the context of a professional healing relationship can conquer unbelievable odds is summed up in Linda's words: "It has been fifteen years since I entered the fire, and six since I emerged with care as a thing of beauty, a sparkling soul eager to fly. The flame was hot and the pain of rebirth was great, but I had help."
