A young girl, Ingrid, had enough of being a maid for her six brothers and father, so she took the risk of an ocean voyage to Canada in 1918.

She fell prey to a selfish man, who left her poverty-stricken and pregnant with twins. Ingrid’s struggle left its deep imprint, not only on her own soul, but also on the lives of the next three generations. One twin, the boy, had to be given up. The other twin, Anna, was dragged through orphanages and foster homes. Anna seldom saw her mother. She went through many fearful times in her young life, facing strangers and predators.

Anna met a fine, gentle man and they married, but a fairy tale ending was not to be hers. Anna’s past fears and traumas threatened to destroy everything she held dear.
