TATTERED FLESH, RESILIENT SPIRIT is a triumph of spirit....an excellent book to share with anyone struggling against the seemingly insurmountable odds of a serious illness.                        —Award winning author Cathryn J Lyons, Author of BLINK OF AN EYE

TATTERED FLESH, RESILIENT SPIRIT is a book from one man's heart journey that will be a true asset of strength to those facing their own battles in this life and a hope for victory. ”              —Shirley Johnson, Senior Reviewer, Midwest Book Review

“The title says it all...an intensely personal and powerful look at one of the most feared conditions that could affect a human being, deadly flesh-eating bacteria. It was inspiring and sometimes heartbreaking to read the thoughts of those who visited at his bedside, like visiting a dear friend in the hospital.”                          —In The Library Reviews

“I found TATTERED FLESH, RESILIENT SPIRIT absolutely fascinating and utterly inspirational.”                                              Tami Brady, TCM Reviews

“The book does such a wonderful job in really bringing the anguish and the joy and the whole emotional roller coaster into focus at a personal level. I truly couldn't restrain myself from turning pages. All of us sideline onlookers now have a unique appreciation for all that Craig and Michelle endured together and accomplished together through the power of their love and faith. ”                                    KP Ober, MD, Author of MARK TWAIN AND MEDICINE

About the Book

It was 5 am, Easter morning. My wife, Michelle, received the phone call, asking her to come immediately. I was going to the OR again. I was a victim of one of the deadliest infections known to man, the dreaded “flesh-eating” bacteria. My body was in shock, with a blood pressure of 60/0. As a young physician, I knew something was alarmingly wrong, yet now I was suddenly the patient, unable to help myself. The surgeons moved fast, removing muscle and skin as the infection moved even faster, killing tissue right before their eyes. Tattered Flesh, Resilient Spirit is the incredible story of our struggle with “flesh-eating” bacteria. You will be brought into our midst as we dealt with this horrible illness, the massive tissue destruction, and the deadly and never-ending complications. You will feel the raw emotion, both incredible joy and overwhelming sadness, as Michelle’s journal entries take you to the heat of the moment. You will see our faith in the verses we used to try to understand why this happened to us and witness the Spirit at work in our lives, allowing me to persevere where so few survive.
