About the Book:

A few weeks before Christmas, Melanie learns her beautiful nineteen- year-old daughter is unwed and pregnant by a black man. In this racist little town, events would prove that while race is only Skin Deep, racism is to the bone. It doesn't take long for Melanie and Morgan to find out who their true friends really are. As Melanie struggles with mixed feelings about the birth of her first grandchild, matters get more complicated when her fiancé’ has a change of heart toward her daughter, proving that he too is a racist. Melanie starts to question the idea of marriage to a man who cannot love her family unconditionally. The answer becomes obvious when, the day before her wedding, Melanie faints in a local furniture store, falling into the arms of store owner, David Price.  When Melanie awakens, she finds herself looking into seductive brown eyes and immediately feels a warm wave pass through her. Her face flushes, her palms become sweaty, and her heart is pounding, signs her grandma told her would happen when she met her soulmate. Her love life takes a shocking turn, challenging her heart and changing her life forever.

About the Author:

Susan Inez was born and raised in Rich Square, a small town located in northeastern North Carolina.  She married and moved away at age twenty and had two children: a son, Christopher, and a daughter, Cheryl. Susan and her husband divorced after twenty-five years of marriage, leaving her on her own for the first time in her life. Susan went on to become a licensed nurse and currently lives in Greenville, North Carolina.

Skin Deep was written from the heart and inspired by the birth of her first grandchild. Susan is currently working on the sequel, Beyond Black and White, which proves to be as heart-wrenching as Skin Deep.  Look for it in bookstores soon.
