About the Book

The birth of a world champion-bred colt sets

in motion the tale of unlikely lovers,

unlikely saviors, madness and homicide.

Jeff Day's daughter has watched him make his mark on

the quarter horse world with his stallion. Driven by her

father's influence, Christine Day has waited to find the

right horse to achieve that same illusive partnership of

greatness. When the family's celebrity broodmare dies

giving birth to a promising foal, the young woman

inherits the exhausting responsibility of hand-raising

the new orphan colt.

Late one evening, Jeff notices headlights pulling onto

the road from a deserted lane near the family's

Missouri River Valley farm. An inspection of the

shadowy spot reveals footprints and cigarette butts.

Someone has been watching Jeff's family.

What did the stalker want? Jeff's daughter?

His treasured show horses?

"Rules of the Stream" blends a passionate horse story

with romantic and treacherous subplots. Complicated

with a whodunit twist, it should intrigue non-horse

readers and get the nod from seasoned horsemen.

About the Author

Native Missourians Sandi Soendker and Nicci DeMint are two friends with a common passion for horses. They began work on their first novel, “Rules of the Stream,” in May of 1997. They invented plots and developed characters while passing the time at three and four-day horse

shows, during road trips hauling horses and on the phone during late night foal watches. Both were born, raised and lived their lives in the Missouri River Valley.
