| About the Book
We live in an era where traditional roles within the family
are being redefined. In order to raise emotionally healthy children,
new mothers, in particular, must adapt to these new and
ever-changing roles. Using the pioneering work of psychiatrist, D.W.
Winnicott, Mother’s Matter reexamines the role of mothers in
raising children emotionally healthy. The book also examines the
role of fathers and the effects of absent fathers on children.
Rather than dry case studies, the book uses interesting characters
from literature to demonstrate how mothers can succeed in raising
their children. The goal of the book is not to develop perfect
mothers, but to empower mothers who can then help their children
grow up healthier and happier.
