| About the Book
“Is the Jesus the God?” is the central,
and yet the most contested question in Christianity.
Is the Jesus the God? is a pew-sitting layman’s
search in the Bible for a self-consistent answer to it. He has no
formal religious background, no position to keep, and no influence
from culture, doctrine, authorities, family, friends, fads, or
personal desires. His aim is not to defend or to prove. Douglas S.
Rustad sought only an answer that was consistent within the 1,980
biblical verses that directly or indirectly relate to the relationship
between Jesus and God. What he found was much more self-consistent,
enlightening, holistic, far-reaching, and beyond Christianity than
what is given in usual Bible study classes.
For example, the authors of the New Testament
consistently used definite articles in the Greek version to convey
important information. These definite articles are not rendered in
English translations, resulting in the loss of a substantial amount of
intended biblical information. If we consider the use and non-use of
definite articles, the English-rendered “Is Jesus God?” is
really four different questions in the Greek version, with four
different meanings and answers, each having different historical
consequences. Who are the real Antichrists? In this detailed study of
the biblical text, Rustad finds what he believes is an answer, true to
the text itself, to this and the central question: Is the Jesus the
God?
