| About the Book
In That Other Life is a collection of poetry by an author who’s
life has taken him from the vernal Finger Lakes of upstate New York
to the scintillating lights and hectic streets of Manhattan, then on
to the huge moons and dusty trails of rural New Mexico. The
interplay of these influences is evident in his poetry. Whether of
one person or many, the animate or inanimate, rooted in the urban or
pastoral, intellectual or emotional, these poems ultimately deal
with the human soul's response to life.
Recognizing the worst aspects of humanity, herein also lies a call
of faith – that humankind is capable of nobility, charity, and
decency. The challenge for this poet was to convey the range of
significance in what life is – lovely, banal, and sometimes ugly.
Moreover, it becomes increasingly important, in an ever more
impersonal world, to convey the gravitas of the positive. In That
Other Life attempts to do so.
