You are hereby ordered for induction into the Armed Forces of the United States...

And so begins the derailing of hundreds of thousands of lives and the odyssey of three naïve teenage boys as they face the realities of war.

Magic Sam, a hippie and Joey Ramone look-alike from San Francisco, formulates his creed of Constructive Anarchy and fights to live long enough to employ it. 

Dwane Harris, a good boy and second-string quarterback from Port Arthur, Texas, volunteers for military service because he's a step too slow to win an athletic scholarship and a college deferment. 

Mike DeAngelo, a city boy, bookworm and realist from Staten Island, spends his year in hell looking for dominoes, John Wayne and any evidence of great victories or heroes in a war run by teenagers. 

General Haze and Senator Cox expound upon their views of "the big picture" and world politics. 
The only battle scenes in this story occur in the hearts and minds of our three young protagonists.
