About the Book:
“Donovan
McFarlane has written a timely and wise book on change and leadership
as they are impacting the American way of life and the rest of the
world. A great read that uniquely bridges the gap between novelistic
and academic discourse, the theoretical and the practical, while
effectively bringing across critical messages, information, and
knowledge to the reader.”
—Cheryl M. Rattigan, Ed.D., Adjunct Professor
in Social Sciences, Nova Southeastern University, Florida.
“The author of this book understands the
requirements and nature of change and effective political leadership –
very real and compelling with insights and recommendations for
positive and successful change: ‘Change is at the heart of
organizational progress and success, individual transformation and
growth. Those who fail to realize this and embrace change as life’s
most dominant reality, especially in a globalized society, will find
themselves perplexed by the occurrences in our world.’ This is very
true!”
—Adeline A. Richards, M.S.H.R.M., Argosy
University, Sarasota Campus, Florida.
“The politics of effective leadership is more
complicated and difficult to deal with, especially in the global arena
of the 21st century where nations are caught up in many competitive
struggles: trade, resources, and militaristic. The interplay of
nations and regions on the sociopolitical and economic scene with
culture and religion intertwined can create difficult challenges. The
ability of political leaders to act diplomatically while using
effective strategies for dealing with allies and non-allies will be
critical to securing wealth, peace, and overall prosperity for nations
and humanity collective. Thus, a new leadership challenge emerges and
Barack Obama has been handed a role that was made more complicated and
tougher by the Bush government than by any previous leaders.”
“Globalization is the greatest change agent
affecting peoples, cultures, nations, and economies and as a
macro-process is responsible for greater diversity by initiating
change in social, technological, economic, political, legal, and
cultural institutions across the world. Globalization is the most
prolific and expansive form of change affecting 21st century society,
with some individuals vehemently opposed to this grand diversity
movement that seeks to integrate all cultures, economies,
technologies, and people into one great global village. Globalization
is a change from domestic to international-worldwide perspectives and
norms. Globalization involves greater interconnectedness that affects
everyone, and each society gains and loses in the process as it
unveils itself fully.”
