| About the Book
Far From Heaven is the story of
Enoch, a miner and the great-grandson of the great-grandson of Adam
and Eve, as he struggles to find answers to the many questions of
existence his curious mind forms. He begins his life’s journey by
meeting his betrothed, Edni, an independent-minded farmer’s daughter
yearning for adventure in the world of the mid-fourth millennium
B.C.E., an era teeming with gods and goddesses ruling many aspects
of daily life. Forced to undertake an emergency trip to the big city
of Zafar to investigate trouble with the family business, Enoch and
Edni encounter a friendly giant, Magbish, who joins in their
adventures involving political intrigue, temple shenanigans, and
mysterious cultures strewn about what is today the Middle East. Far
From Heaven explores the lifestyle and culture of antediluvian
times, when man’s relationship with his Creator strayed further away
from Adam’s fallen connection. Enoch and Edni look forward to
marriage but their lives are thrown into chaos when Enoch encounters
the angel Uriel, who informs the miner that God has a mission for
him. Enoch tries to balance his earthly responsibilities of family
and community with those imposed from above. Love, death, revolt,
battle, and danger fill their lives as momentous events take place
over centuries. Enoch eventually needs answers from his ancestor
Adam to make sense of how Far From Heaven his kind has come.
