There is an old Russian proverb that “One word of truth outweighs the whole world”. Your letters have a full vocabulary! F. D. Reeve (Father), Author and Poet Michael Kanouff’s Letters from the Edge is a gift to the world, not just those who live in the world of disability. With eloquence and a sharp sense of humor, he takes the reader on a journey from despair to inner peace. In the final chapter, “Fond Memories of the Future”, he fantasizes about recovery. This is an act of courage that could be easily dismissed by cynics, but is actually a legitimate projection based on cutting-edge research. Letters from the Edge is a book to be treasured for its wisdom, given to us by a man who truly understands what it means to be alive. Christopher Reeve (Son), Actor and Author
About the Author On December 12th 1993, I died. Within one second, I was given a second life, a journey as a quadriplegic. Thus began my travels in a wheelchair, through totally new terrain. Graced by the compassionate support of my family and community, I avoided a terrifying tailspin into depression, loneliness and poverty. I also wrote a few letters along the way.
