| About the Book
Originally published as a PhD thesis, Distributed
Architectures for Laboratory-Based E-Learning describes research
on resource access management in the Internet, proposes novel
architecture and didactical frameworks for resource access
management, and distributes those plans and didactics. These
concepts have been practically implemented in geographically
distributed international e-learning projects about computer
science. The Distributed Architectures of the title allow multiple
organizations in many places to use the Internet to implement a
common e-learning course not limited to computer science topics.
This open architecture solves generic authentication and
authorization issues and gives access to distributed hands-on
e-learning laboratories. Also described is a didactical concept
which is necessary if many different organizations produce content
modules for one common course.
