I
Saw the First Christmas by
Connie Lemonde
Papa
Claus (now Santa Claus) tells how
a long time ago, he saw angels
singing over a cave in
Bethlehem. Inside were a man, a woman and a newborn baby, called Jesus.
In the cave there was also a little shepherd girl named Mariah.
She loved the baby, Jesus, and gave him a small handmade gift. A
few weeks later, when the Magi came bringing
expensive gifts, Mariah
was sad that her gift was so insignificant.
But Mary told her, “Your
wooden candle, given with love, is more precious to Jesus than gold.” Santa explains to Little E that Christmas is really the
birthday of Jesus. He also
tells why he brings presents to children on Christmas eve, and how he
became known as Santa instead of Papa Claus. After hearing this, Little
E decides to give Jesus a special Christmas present.
After all, it’s HIS birthday!
