About the Author
When
Jim was in Lutheran confirmation class around the age of 14, the
Pastor told the class to open up the door to their hearts to let Jesus
in. He imagined a small, rounded-top, wooden door in his chest with
two large, ornate hinges on it that he reckoned he needed to somehow
pry open. When he got home from church and looked in the mirror, Jim
surmised that the door hadn’t begun to appear in his chest yet because
he was small for his age and slow to physically mature. As Jim
matured, his Pastor lost his credibility.
After 15 years of devouring books
about God and searching for any information that would answer his
questions, it dawned on Jim that he was living a life of lukewarm
morals. He was sleepwalking through his choices, grabbing what he
could, hoping that he would be OK, wanting to be better and frustrated
that things weren’t going his way.
When Jim
began to meditate about 13 years ago, he began to wake up. The pieces
started falling together. The world started to make sense and life got
better. Currently, Jim lives in Chicago where he lectures and teaches
workshops based on this material and also holds a position as a
technical writer and corporate trainer at a large marketing research
company.
