About the Book

Beowulf: the Ancient Hero

A thousand years ago, a warrior prince sailed to Denmark to battle a monster plaguing the mead hall of the Danish king. For 12 years the Danes endured its nightly attacks, but none could kill the beast. To the fabled hall comes Beowulf. That night, he fights the demon, Grendel. With his bare hands. Yet victory shall bring more terror, for Grendel has a mother.

Beowulf is an epic adventure, first told by medieval Anglo-Saxons and put down in writing around the 8th century AD. Easy-to-read, this is the original story retold in Modern English. Not a scholarly dissertation, this is Beowulf as it was meant to be --a tale for everyone.

About the author

Amy Hager developed an interest in old books and old languages at an early age. Full-time work and a family slowed linguistic pursuits, but as her children became independently mobile she discovered more time for studying. She currently lives in Savannah, GA with her husband and one son.
