About the Author
George F.
Dole is an ordained Swedenborgian minister holding academic degrees
from Yale, Oxford, and Harvard. His writings and talks are noted for
their profound insight, penetrating research, and engagingly direct
and elegant style.
He was
ordained into the ministry of the Swedenborgian Church in 1960, and
served its parish in
Cambridge,
Massachusetts,
for thirteen years. In the meantime, he took his Ph.D. in Assyriology
at Harvard in 1965, and began a long career on the faculty of the
Swedenborg School of Religion. He has an impressive list of
publications and film scripts to his credit, and has become a leading
translator of the works of Emanuel Swedenborg from the Latin.
Now
retired from his teaching career, Dr. Dole is currently pastor of the
Swedenborgian
Church in Bath, Maine, and serves as a translator for the New Century
Edition of Swedenborg’s theological works.
