| About the Book
and Author
My dad was from Omaha, Nebraska. Mom’s roots were in
Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Their lives merged in Baltimore, Maryland,
where I was born…the second of three sons. My father was a doctor and
my mother a nurse at Mercy Hospital in Baltimore. Their romance grew
out of a professional relationship and they married a year after their
first date.
My parents and grandparents were devout Catholics and raised my
brothers and I in strict Catholic tradition. Unfortunately, our
educational environment was all male. The feminine part of our
learning was after school hours. Heck, I knew more about the military
facts of life than the other facts of life by the time I reached
puberty. Flashbacks of Youth is my first book. It only seems
appropriate to write about my first family. It is a legacy to my
children, their children, and future generations. However, I believe
many others will also enjoy the story – a snippet of life in the
thirties and forties in Baltimore. It will bring back fond memories of
many youthful experiences. I am now retired and don’t mind it at all.
I live in Las Vegas, Nevada where many retirees play golf, bowl, or
gamble, keeping busy from week to week.
