About the Book

Growing up with an alcoholic father, Kelly Phillips Bookamer harbored feelings of anger, confusion, and depression. Dear Dad reflects the inner turmoil that consumed Kelly for much of her life. Following her father’s painful death, she came to realize that she was not alone and that she could control her own destiny. Her collection of poems documents her life as an Adult Child of an Alcoholic. Her work contains a message of hope and encouragement to other ACOAs, that even in the face of depression, everything will be okay. It is the poetry of her soul, the words of her spirit, the story of her life, as she struggles to come to terms with the reality of her troubled childhood.
