Dr. Robert Stebbins
is a legend in the world of herpetology. He is also an artist,
musician, world traveler, teacher and much more. He has published
numerous books and articles as well as produced two documentaries for
the Sierra Club.
His love of nature began early in the
wild hills of California where as a boy
he roamed the countryside studying
and sketching wildlife. Even as a boy,
he began speaking out to protect the animals and plants he loved.
That passion has never left him. He has dedicated his life to the
protection of the planet and all it’s various life forms. He now
resides in Walnut Creek, California with his wife Anna-rose.
Reconnect with nature
• Numerous hands-on activities for children and adults.
• Designed for use in many parts of the world—both urban and rural
settings.
• Interesting anecdotes of the author’s years of experience in the
field, with students and others.
• Ecology as a pathway to connecting with nature.
“Dr. Robert C. Stebbins has distilled a lifetime in the natural
sciences as a distinguished scholar, artist and activist to make an
eloquent case for “ecological literacy”. To offset pervasive virtual
reality, Stebbins patiently draws the reader back into the natural
world using a generous pallet of fascinating examples and captivating
science-based activities. At a time when man’s effects on planet Earth
are undeniable, Connecting with Nature: A Naturalist’s Perspective,
shows us,
with great reverence, how to reconnect with nature and find our way
back into
the woods.”
